Occupational Physiotherapy

Occupational physiotherapy services make a significant contribution to improving health and return to work outcomes for injured workers.

This page is designed to provide a summary of information, resources and publications relevant to occupational physiotherapists.

Occupational physiotherapy services

The introduction of occupational physiotherapy services is part of WorkSafe’s commitment to achieving better health and return to work outcomes for injured workers.

Occupational physiotherapy services commenced for injured workers in October 2008.

An occupational physiotherapist is a registered physiotherapist who has at least three years experience in the management of acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions.

They have specific skills and experience in treating injured workers and can help facilitate their early rehabilitation and safe and sustainable return to work.

Injured workers can choose to access an occupational physiotherapist or a general physiotherapist in the community. Occupational physiotherapy is another option for injured workers to consider in their rehabilitation.
