RTW With The Injury Employer OR Services

Which OR service for RTW with the injury employer is approved by the WorkCover agent will depend on the worker’s capacity for work or whether they have returned to work at the time the service is provided.
RTW with the injury employer OR services enable the worker to return to work in their pre-injury job and duties or in suitable employment at the same or another workplace of the injury employer.

When considering what might be suitable employment for a worker, the employer and WorkCover agent consider the following hierarchy:

  1. Same job/duties
  2. Similar job/duties
  3. Different job/duties

Vocational re-education (retraining) should also be considered to assist the worker return to work.

When a worker returns to work
A workplace assessment should be approved by a WorkCover agent to ensure that the worker is placed in safe as well as suitable employment. Any recommendation for a workplace modification should be considered by the WorkCover agent quickly.

RTW with injury employer OR service fees
These fees are payable at an hourly rate negotiated between the WorkCover agent and the OR provider plus GST. These fees are indexed on 1 July each year.
