Small Business - RTW Essentials Services

The Small Business – Return to Work Essentials service is a new service that commenced on 27 January 2009. This service is designed to meet the specific needs of small employers (< $1 Million remuneration) by providing them with support, advice and practical assistance soon after a claim is registered, helping them to better manage claims and return to work processes.

The objective of the Small Business – Return to Work Essentials service is to promote the early, safe and sustainable return to work of injured workers by providing a high quality, tailored service to small employers early in the life of a time loss claim.

The service is a once only meeting with an independent Return to Work Essentials Consultant at the workplace. The service is delivered in the first few weeks after a time loss claim and is in addition to the ongoing support provided by your WorkSafe Agent.

Who can receive this service?

The WorkSafe Agent will contact eligible small employers to offer the service and seek the employer’s agreement to meet with an Return to Work Essentials Consultant at the employer's worksite.

Participation in the Small Business – Return to Work Essentials service is voluntary.

Where is the service delivered?

The service is conducted at the employer’s business premises and is anticipated to take approximately 2 hours.

What does the service provide?

The Return to Work Essentials Consultant will provide the employer with advice, support and practical assistance about:

  • claims
  • return to work
  • developing a Return to Work Plan.

The Return to Work Essentials Consultant will assist the employer to meet their obligations and complete the following documents:

  • Return to Work Plans and Offers of Suitable Employment
  • Reimbursement forms
  • Electronic Funds Transfer forms.

Employers will also receive a pack of WorkSafe publications and templates to help them to manage their ongoing claims and RTW obligations:

Who pays for the service?

The cost of the service will be allocated as a claims cost.
