Licence to perform high risk work
A licence to perform high risk work is now required by people working with plant and equipment considered to be high risk.
From 1 July 2008, all forklift operators working in primary production and forestry operations will also require a Licence to Perform High Risk Work. Click here for specific information relating to primary producers and forestry operators.
To apply for a licence first time applicants should contact an authorised license assessor to book in for an assessment.
Applicants who already hold a certificate of competency or ‘ticket’ should now register online to transfer to the new licence before their certificate of competency expires. Existing certificates are scheduled to expire over a 5 year transition period, and you must transfer to the new licence before your current certificate expires.
Important: If your certificate expires in less than three months from now, you need to apply for the new licence now.
All Old style certificates of competency issued prior to 1995 have now expired. Any person still holding one of these certificates that has not been transferred to a Licence to Perform High Risk Work Must not perform any work on that certificate. View the Old style certificates of competency guidance note for more information.
Check your expiry date before you register. Enter your oldest certificate issue date.
Please note that even if you hold multiple certificates, you only need to register once, as you can transfer all your certificates when you receive and complete your Transfer Application form. When you register below, you will need to enter the details of your oldest issued certificate.
A licence will be issued for five years and is valid in every Australian state and territory, enabling people to operate high risk equipment under consistent standards everywhere in Australia.
